Hardware Requirements

RECOMMENDED OPERATING SYSTEMS

This guide has been tested against Linux distributions only. To ensure a successful production environment setup, consider using a Linux system.

The bandwidth, CPU, and memory requirements increase as the network expands. For retaining a large amount of blockchain history, large hard drives are advised, along with plenty of RAM to handle the growing number of transactions.

Furthermore, different requirements will apply while executing on the testnet and the mainnet.

The minimum requirements for running a Hedge node are:

Running Hedge on AWS?

If you're considering running a Hedge node on Amazon Web Services (AWS), it's essential to configure your environment correctly to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Here's a recommended setup for your AWS instance

Recommended settings
  • Minimum Instance Type - c4.xlarge
  • Configure Storage - GP2 drive

Operating system

  • To use the prebuilt hedged you need to run Ubuntu - 20 or newer.
  • Sudo permissions on your machine (e.g. can run sudo hostname)

Network Requirements

  • Static IP Address: Configure a static IP address to maintain consistent accessibility.

  • Port Forwarding: Set up port forwarding on your router to allow incoming connections to the Hedge node.

  • Firewall Configuration: Adjust firewall settings to permit network traffic on the required ports for Hedge communication.

  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS): Implement a UPS or backup power solution to prevent unexpected shutdowns.
