Preliminaries
Validator nodes hold a pivotal role in maintaining network integrity by staking real-value tokens. Effectively managing a validator requires a deep understanding of node operations, hardware configuration, and continuous monitoring. Validators must be vigilant as they face potential penalties, including slashing, for violations such as prolonged offline periods or equivocation. This level of responsibility highlights the necessity for a thorough awareness of associated risks.
While Hedge is currently in its testnet phase, running validator nodes requires significant system administration expertise.
Becoming a validator is a significant commitment as errors or oversights can not only impact your tokens but also harm your reputation, considering your role in overseeing both your stake and that of your nominators. Despite the challenges, becoming a validator presents a rewarding opportunity to contribute to network security and receive incentives for your efforts.
